I submitted my application (under University category) on 3rd October and the average processing time as per the website is 15 working days. Can people who have already applied before from India/Delhi tell me realistic times for initial response?

I seriously think that mentioning a sponsor/property (if you are not taking a GIC/Loan) will increase your chances and assure the VO about your backup plans in case the stipend is somehow suspended for some duration. It can be a worst case scenario as the financial assistance letter from university mentions that the stipend "is initially for 1st year and is renewed for next year onwards if the student's performance and research are progressing well" (at least thats what its is in my case) Although its not mentioned to show all this stuff like sponsor's letter etc. as a requirement but still showing extra money is no harm.UBCvijay said:Hi Sue, I have a question regarding financial documents. Is it sufficient if i shoe the following documents
1. Payment receipt for first year tuition fee
2. University stipend letter covering my living cost
Is it mandatory that I should show a sponsor ? Because the preferred mode in VFS checklist asks us just two items 1.payment receipt for tuition fee and 2.GIC/LOAN - in my case stipend letter
Also, the checklist asks us to submit only our recent degree certificate copies. So is it alright if I submit only my master's degree photocopy?
Is these documents are necessary, if a person is paying his whole one year fees and taking GIC/Loan for living expense(because as per new rule he covered his financial things)...because in University check list they didn't mentioned these documents....sue_in said:FYI,
Financial Docs Submitted
Fellowship (financial assistance) letter from university
Letter from Sponsor (my father) on office letterhead
Letter from Sponsor mentioning his current occupation, salary and number of dependants
Letter from Sponsor's employer (Govt) mentioning designation, monthly salary and available funds in GPF account
Table clearly mentioning available funds and their sources and properties with their values
Bank Statement (1 year)
Term Deposit (FDs) receipts
Receipt from university of wire transfer of 1st term fees
Letter from a property dealer evaluating current property values
Form 16 and ITRs of Sponsor (last 3 years)
Service Letter indication date of joining, resignation, salary and designation from previous employer (Self)
Salary slips for last 6 months in service (Self)
For multiple sponsors, just get letter from each sponsor. One of my friend showed mom and dad both as sponsor as he was showing bank docs of both of them. I hope the docs I submitted are ok. I can only confirm how useful they were if I get a positive response from CHC
Can you tell me where and what program you got admitted to? And how much financial assistance are you getting?UBCvijay said:Thanks Sue. I agree, there is no harm in showing those as the offer letter (just like yours) mentions that stipend will be renewed based on academic performance!
University checklist does not mention these documents (General Checklist indicates some of these under Additional Documents and Recommended Documents section). I added these to my files just because I did not take GIC/Loan but was applying under University Checklist (as it had option to attach Up Front Medical form). As I told before I can not tell if all this is really required but I am just hoping that this will work as I have presented the case as well as I can.VPS123 said:Is these documents are necessary, if a person is paying his whole one year fees and taking GIC/Loan for living expense(because as per new rule he covered his financial things)...because in University check list they didn't mentioned these documents....

It all depends on you I've just presented my perspective on this. I am getting 20K/year and still I have showed support from my father just to be sure. Moreover we cannot judge here with our own insignificant powers on an insignificant forum as to whether our financial status is weaker or not We can just make intelligent assumptions with support from chettas, checchis and our bhais here. Its for the VO to decide whether is a green flag or a red flag 8)UBCvijay said:University of British Columbia, PhD in Environmental sciences, getting 17k
I still believe its sufficient to show one year tuition fee + financial assistance letter (its not weaker than a application where you show support of sponsor)
