Processing time versus medical expiry date.

I am told that the results of the medical I am to take for the immigration process will last for twelve months.
I am also told that the current processing times for applications is about fourteen months.

Is this a problem? I thought I had to send all of the paperwork - including the medical results - in at the same time. I mean, I'm sure this is just something I'm over thinking about and that I can't actually be penalised for them taking too long.

Right?

The medical needs to be done before sending the app. Try to do it only a few days before you actually send it off.

The results are valid for a year but it is possible to extend them. Once the meds expire, the VO has 3 months to request an extension. If the VO doesn't ask for an extension by that 15 month mark and the app is still being processed, then another medical would have to be done.

I wouldn't be too worried about that. If you have a straightforward app, it will most likely be done before the medical expire or soon after, in which case they would most likely extend it.

Sorry, really can't give you an answer to that because of the strike. If your medical does expire before they get your passport back to you, they will most likely extend it instead of requesting a new medical.
