Does anyone know how long it will take to get my passport back with re-entry visa? I am a full-time international student in Canada and have just submitted my application 2 weeks ago to Case Processing Pilot office in Ottawa ( CPP-O); however, it does not provide processing time.

Thanks.

No one knows, they only announced the change on 29/05/12.

Thank you for your response, PMM. Considering it is a new project, I suppose it will be quick, but....

They are adding quite a bit to CPP-O's workload right now, so it's not clear (to me at least) what this will mean to processing times.

I too submitted my application 2 weeks ago. So far no dice. One of my sources tell me that the immigration office says it will take upto 37 days for CPP-O to process a TRV for international students :( this sucks because applicants who sent their application to Buffalo in the beginning of May received their Visa within 3 weeks time. Plus CPP-O is taking up heavy load right now, including (i think) PR applications.

That sucks. The new established visa office actually introduced some new changes for visa application (e.g., use barcode...), it should facilitate the process. But right now everything looks uncertain. Thanks for your information anyway, computergeek.

Never confuse your urgency with their urgency - it's important (and urgent) to you, but to them, you are just one more person insisting that you be given preferential treatment. That's harsh, yes, but it really is the way that immigration generally proceeds. While I hope you get your visa in time for your sister's wedding, you should have a contingency plan in case that does not happen.

I was not trying to be harsh or rude, merely honest. I wish I could share your optimism, but for me today marks three years my original application was submitted and it still is not resolved; my second application is now lost in the bowels of CIC and after 3.5 months of waiting for even an acknowledgement of receipt I have merely learned that optimism that CIC will do anything on a timetable other than their own is not a prudent path.

I certainly hope you are pleasantly surprised and you receive your visa, but with the holiday weekend approaching and the inevitable summer holidays, I would expect CIC processing times to increase. Further, CPP-O has suddenly inherited responsibility for many of the files formerly handled by Buffalo (prior to it's closer, Buffalo handled approximately 20% of the WORLD's permanent resident applications, with about half that being sent to the other offices in the US and the balance handled by Buffalo.) Even if the people in Ottawa are the very best that CIC has, they are experiencing a dramatic increase in workload and that is likely to correspond to an increase in processing time.

Hi omolola,

Hope you can update your information once you get your visa back. So, we may know how many days are required for application, considering there is no processing time posted on their Website.
