I submitted by PR application in Jan 2021. My medicals were performed in Dec 2020.

Today, they asked me to submit new police clearence certificate from US because I am on h1b here. My spouse is in the US on h4 and is the part of express entry application. I also have to submit proof of funds.

If I respond today, how long do you think they would take to make decision on my application?

My medicals have expired already. But they have not asked for medicals again. What will be the COPR validity? I believe validity is tied to medical expiration. Will I still get 1 year of validity?

Any help is appreciated.

You typically get 1 year from the day of your medical. You may not get asked to do another medical and be given a short period to land or you can be asked to repeat your medical and will get 1 year from the medical as the expiry date for the COPR.

This is worrying. If they give shorter landing window, it is going to conflict with my h1b renewal. I planned in such a way that there is no conflict but they delayed processing so much. What are my options now?

You have to wait and see if you are asked for another medical

Thank you for your help.

Is it a good idea to attach a letter of request explaining the issue along with other documents? Can it harm the application, in not help?

You can’t ask for more time to land especially because you want more time because it interferes with your US visa plans.

I really appreciate you taking time to reply.

Do they usually give few months in such case or like one month? Also, how soon will they adjudicate my application once I submit additional documents? Will it be soon or it will likely take few more months? I would prefer to delay processing as much as I could. This is a utter mess.

I know that generally they would not care but this time it was huge delay on their part. I applied more than year ago so that this situation does not arise.

If they give me 1 year COPR, I am fine. But it they give me like 2 months, I am screwed. I wont be able to leave the US without causing mess here.
