Hey Friends,

Not sure how many have noticed - the processing time for Work Permit applications from India has come down from 4 months to 2 months :) :) :)

Hope those who applied in the month of October will get an update soon!!!

K

Yes, this is certainly a good news for those who has applied and who all are going to apply soon. Which work permit you think process faster: Paper application or Online submission ?

"I think the paper application submitted through VFS is much faster than Online OWP application" - This statement is derived from what I've read across this forum and given the fact I've submitted an online application on 3rd Oct 2014 and is yet to receive an update.

I've also learnt that there are many other factors that play a role in the application processing time

- Your spouse's status in Canada (Student or Work Permit holder)
- Application Type (OWP Application submitted along with spouse's WP / SP application or OWP application submitted after getting spouse's VISA)
- Visa office where the application was submitted
- Finally the Visa Officer who is processing your application

Senior members please correct me if I'm wrong!

Cheers,
K

Thank you for your reply,

So, you have applied from New delhi visa office ? Is that OWP you have applied for ? I think the processing time for WP and OWP is same. Isn't it..

Yes, I've submitted an online OWP application selecting "New Delhi" as my Visa Office(for passport submission).
You are correct, as per CIC website - there is no differentiation in processing a WP or OWP.

Can you please share your details? Just curious to know what is your application type and if you've received any update from CIC.

Thanks,
K

Is it easy to get independent OWP?
Hi,

Sorry, Your question is not clear! Not sure, what you mean by "Independent OWP"
When you say OWP - it is always dependant on certain given criteria. If you don't meet any of those criteria then you will not be eligible to apply for an OWP.

Please search the CIC site for "Who can apply for an open work permit?" to get more information.
Please let me know, if you have any additional questions.

Thanks,
K

I have got my medical request last week and I have already done by medicals upfront. I have already asked the company immigration lawyer to pass the UMI number and I wonder how long it take from now on to get the visa stamp request. Do let me know if you have any idea.

Thanks!
