Process for 2020 applicants isn’t faster. It’s still 12 months. The processing time is different for each applicants based on the complexity of their application like if it they have previously lived in different countries or appeal or other issues.

That's true. Even country we are applying from matters a lot. One of my friend who applied a week later got visa in 4 months but he is from India.

Hi Guys,

I have been following this forum for months n it has been very helpful.

I would like to know what would happen if a sponsor (Born Canadian citizen, duel citizenship in Sri Lanka) comes down to Sri Lanka n stay with his/her spouse till the PR visa is approved.

Thank you in advance.

1). You may do that as long as you can prove them that you can financially take care of yourself and your spouse when both of you arrive in Canada ( once your spouse gets visa)

2). You better explore options of getting work permit or study permit for your spouse so your spouse can move to Canada , then you can sponsor your spouse while both of you are in Canada. ( I still feel sad that I didn’t pursue this option - too late )

As per forum, sponsor travelling out of Canada for a period of 3 to 4 weeks is ok. But If it exceeds more, then CIC may ask you to prove your intend to return.
