this is what i get from our mp last week

We can provide you with the following details for your constituent about the status of an application to sponsor a spouse living outside Canada:

  • The application was received at the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga (CPC-M), Ontario, on July 24, 2019.
  • The responsible office is currently reviewing the application and documents submitted to determine if the sponsored person (the applicant) meets the eligibility requirements.
    • the assessment for the applicant is still in process at the Canadian visa office in Colombo.
  • The medical examination results are on file and valid until August 11, 2020, for the applicant.
  • The criminality verifications are currently valid.
  • The security verifications have not been initiated.

What Assessment There Are Doing in Colombo
last year they are refuse our application and we appeal against visa officer decision and won this year
so why again they are re assessment and how long its took
this is very irritating procedure

Oh man this is so frustrating eh. Yeah I really don't understand why they have to do all this all over again. Just hang in there yoge, hope you hear something positive real soon.

hey guys,

I received PPR back in July but I got married in June and had already informed CIC so didn't submit my PP. Then they later sent in the docs checklist for Wife and things started moving..

July 27 - Check list for spouse received
Aug 4 - Documents (all) submitted for spouse and other (financials - updated)
Aug 7 - Medical for spouse done
** Got to know from CIC call center that the application had transferred to Colombo VO **
Aug 27 - Colombo VO asked the same set of docs I had submitted on 4th Aug to CIC - Re-submission done
Sep 20 - Spouse biometrics letter received - completed on 21st

It's been nearly 1 month since biometrics for spouse and its radio silence from Colombo-VO.

Did not respond to my emails (2) and web form raised though they all are beyond maximum responding time.

It's frustrating for both of us and we're all desperately waiting for something from them every single day.

Any idea what's happening in Colombo VO ?

-Thanks

Unfortunately the Colombo visa office won’t easily reply to emails/webforms until after you hit the one year mark. Even then some people said they didn’t get a reply other than something along the lines of “Your application is in queue”. Unfortunately you just have to be patient, but if you’re lucky, then you can maybe have the MP in your area contact the VO to get a detailed summary.

That is way too long eh. 25 days to the 1 year mark? Should get the MP involved and send them an enquiry. It's hard to even guess how they operate because everyone have different timelines even with similar applications.
Ya. 22 days more. I already sent email . But didn't get reply.

Hi Seniors,
i got the birth and marriage certificates translated from the Department of Registrar General in Battaramulla. They obviously did not provide an affidavit as it is a government body.
Is this an issue? has anyone provided translations without affidavits?
your advice is highly appreciated!

You don’t need affidavit for those documents if you need more weight for documents just attest from foreign affairs
