Suganya, you've got a little bit more time for your meds to expire. People that had there apps sent to CIC colombo in jan are now getting visa. So i don't see why you shouldn't too either unless you have some medical complication like our application. So hang in and stay hopeful. Don't cry. It's not worth crying. Your just going to make yourself sick. Remember, once hubby and you are together, it will be fine. Until then, you need to be strong for yourself.

Colombo visa office never gives a lotta info. So don't get discouraged. It will be better. I think you will get your visa soon. So don't worry. Have faith in god.

Hi,
Its nice to see somebody talking about colombo office.. My husband is in canada and he got his
pr under refugee category. Colombo office send me my PR application kit in 2009 Dec and I have send filled Application and they start to process my application in january 2010, They request our marriage pictures and other documents to prove the marriage in Aug 2010. Since then I haven't heard anything from Colombo office. Does any body know the average processing time for this type of cases.. Any Advice?

Guys, sorry for the late replay as I was in vacation. Yes, my wife got visa today along with 22 other applicants at the Colombo visa office. I applied for sponsorship of my wife in late Feb, and returned the missing docs. in April. If you provide all the docs, I do not see why you cannot get the visa in acceptable timeline. For the record, I never checked ecas nor worried about complaining with officials. Since I'm government employee, I know how things work in government - let the process run its course. And you should be concerned when you do not hear anything in 7-month time.

As for interview questions, you have to prove with the officials that your sponsorship is not about marriage of convenient. To make sure both - you and your spouse - are in the same page they would ask series of questions about each other : close friends' names, family members who attended the marriage/registration, sister-in-law/ BIL and their kids's names, sexual relationships ( according to hindu culture, you cannot have sex before the marriage) etc.

Interview questions can vary with each individual applicant. All you have to make sure that you guys are consistent with the answers.

Cheers!

Congrats Cspouse!

Sharmi, you have a while to go before your meds expire. So I would say hang tight and be patient. If you havent heard anything by the end of September, then I would consider going back to the visa office.

Cheers.

Thanks! guys.

My wife's medical has another 3 or 4 months before expiring. For some reasons - geographical regions from where you applied, the contents of application, enough supporting documents and the different visa officials - not all can get the visas in the same timeline. However, the medical expiration date until which most visa officials are going the distance for the cases which they think require some verification or lack of resources at their side. Either way, all you guys would get visas before the date of your medical expiration :)

Marriage is overrated, though I find my wife is a good partner. Guys, do not be emotional, take as it comes. Yes, enjoy your last remaining days of single life. 8)

If anyone flies out of Colombo to Toronto within next one or two week, can you let me know guys? Since my wife never saw the plane - oops, never been in a plane - she is scared of all the boarding pass and transit process, let alone sitting in a plane. Female passenger who at least speaks some Tamil is preferable.

Thanks!
