Processing time for spousal visa - Sri Lanka

Hello Everyone,
First off, I'm sorry I havent been able to update you guys or post as frequently as I could.. I am actually in Waterloo for the week for training and will be coming back to Toronto tomorrow and its been a very busy week!
Secondly, I need everyone's help to keep this thread going.. We must all be there for eachother, so please please please post as frequently as you can.. Don't stay away from the thread just because.. We all need support and encouraging words and being the only ones that know what it feels like to go through this, it's important to be there for each other.
I have had no updates either.. My husband's meds expire in less than 2 weeks, so we are pretty bummed because right now, it looks like our wait is going to be a long one.. He's in the process of applying for a visitor visa and I am hoping that he might at least get that.. Thanks to the postal strike, he hasn't received my invitation letter, but I hope that will change soon.
Anyways, tell me what's going on with all of you.. Doesn't matter if it's visa related or not, I just want to know how everyone is doing

No update on my side. Did you talk with your lawyer lately? I am wondering what if my girl check with embassy again. I remember you told me that your lawyer doesnt think it is good idea to bother embassy that much. But we have only little time left.

watnxt - yeah dude, i was in waterloo all week. i'm super exhausted to be honest with you and will be going home tomorrow..
sharmi - i highly doubt that we will get the visa just the visitor visa is fine at the moment to be honest with you.. If he gets that, he can visit for at least a few weeks..
Watnxt - yeah they say that it makes no sense to talk to the embassy frequently since they get annoyed. i did ask my lawyer 2 days ago on any changes and she had none and just said to hope for the best. so we are hoping for the best right now. i'm really upset about it, but work keeps me so busy that i hardly have anytime to relax and actually think about it. but still, its always there in the back of my mind.. honestly dude i have been so busy since i started the new job that i have hardly even spoken to hubby.. it's hard on both of us, but he doesn't mind because he knows that when i'm busy, i don't have time to be sad.

Yeah, we all need to hope for the best. Listen this story. May be I already told you this, just want to remind you again.
My wife knows some one, who applied for visa in May 2010. Her med expired just 3 days after Tamil-Shinhala New Year. She went embassy to ask for update a week before new year. They told her that they will call her if they need anything from her. She told them "my med is expiring in a week or so"... they replied "Yes, we know". She return home without any good news.
They called her just 2 days before new year and asked her if she can get a ticket to get in canada before med expires. Due new year holidays-mood, most of the travel agents were closed. Unfortunetally, She couldnt get ticket on that day. Following 3 days were holidays and then weeked. As a result she lost the chance to get visa and get into canada before med expired. When she went back to embassy, after new year, they told her that "you med has expried and we cannot give you visa now". She asked them "do you want me to redo med" ..they replied.."we will contact you whenver we needed".
So to avoid this kind of situation, just tell your man to be preparied. For embassy we are one of 100000 ppl. For us it is life.
He can book ticket just 3 days before med expries. If he get good news then he can purchace the ticket else cancel it.

I heard many ppl who applied after us got visa with in 5-6 months. So anything possible.
Same time look at Dhana, and Shif. Their status changed month ago. Still no update. So not sure what is going on there. I also lost the hope. I told my wife we may need to redo med. It is really hard to explain ppl why it take too long for us while others getting fast.

I know.. They keep asking me why he's not here yet and i try not to say much.. and they feel sorry for me which is even more annoying.. anyhoo.. life must go on right..
Yes, .. I hate when they say "Dont worry...its just 9 months..she will get it soon"... I feel like "Yo, stupid...i didnt come and complaining/worring you...u r the one asked me about status..". If you haven't asked me i wouldnt even tell u..

Mel, I am thinking to check with embassy in August, just before med expries. Try to give the last chance before med goes away. At least give a chance..what do you think?
