Hello guys,

I hope you could help me with the following questions:

- A friend of mine told me after the submission of your refugee claim in Ontario, the hearing will be after a year, as minimum!!, and this is for those who applied recently. Is it the same thing in Alberta for those who applied in 2018?.

- before the hearing, can I study English and/or any diploma in a University (not a school), and is it covered by OSAP?.

Thanks in advance,

No one can tell for sure how long the process would take.

However, Egypt is one of the countries on the expedited policy list. If your case is straightforward with no unjustified/unclear scenarios, you will receive a decision without a hearing.

As others said, the asylum system is federal, moving to another province will not affect the process, even if you head up to the north pole :D

After your claim deems eligible, you will be able to apply for a study permit. However, You will be admitted as an international student and will have to pay the exuberant tuition fees with no access to student loans.

No guarantee that you will not get an interview or getting a faster processing time on the expedited list. Egypt has certain populations that have a good chance at asylum but not Egyptians in general.
