Processing time for PR after submission of application

Hi,

Anyone knows how much time (approx.) do they take to ask for the original passport after submission of the online application for PR?

I came to know from non express entry candidates, that the Passport submission call comes after a few months,basically at the last stage when they decide to provide the PR. Does that hold true for express entry too? I have the papers ready to be submitted but I have to visit my native country in september, so trying to be sure that I do not get a call for passport before end of september as I won't be around.

Suggestions and experiences shared will be helpful.

Nothing can be said when will they ask for passport. asking passport is last stage of PR application. and timelines is unique for every case. but you can always ask request CIC to allow you to submit your passport to CIC in your country if you are staying longer there. But make sure you request them to change your passport office to your desired one, do it only when they ask you to submit passport.
