Hello everyone,
I am under the express entry system (AOR for permanent resident application: 27 Feb 2016), and I received the PPR on 17 Nov 2016, and sent the passport on 20 Nov 2016 to the Visa Section of the Canadian Embassy in Cairo, Egypt as per the PPR email.
Any idea what the processing time is of the visa there? Does the PPR mean I am definitely getting a visa or am I still under review?
Appreciate your help.

Congratulations Basma,

I have never heard of someone getting their visa denied after PPR.

Best of luck!

As for the processing times, I have no idea how long, but it should be within 2 - 3 weeks max!!

Hopefully you will get it soon.

Good luck!

Thanks Basma for sharing your timeline! I wish you best of luck for your future life in Canada!

My PR application is in Cairo Visa Office. And your application's long processing time (almost 9 months) made me very worried.

Do you know if something delayed the processing of your application? When did your background check change to "In progress"?

Again, thank you and best of luck!

Thanks a lot Omar! Best of luck to you too :)

Bassem,
I'm not sure exactly when the background check changed to "in progress", but from what I gathered on this forum on many other threads is that generally the "in progress" remark has little meaning regarding the timeline - so just don't worry about it.
As for my actual timeline, yes I did expect it to be shorter. The last additonal documents requested by the IRCC was on May 15, I submitted them on May 16 (it was Schedule A for Spouse), and then the PPR came on November 17. I assume all this time in between was the background check.
Hopefully yours will be faster. Good luck!

Did you hire a representative or just applied on your own? And if you applied on your own, is it an easy process or did you face a lot of obstacles?? Thank you

I sent it to the Visa Section of the Canadian Embassy in Cairo at the Nile City Towers. Sent by courier as requested in the PPR email.
Sorry I don't understand - you mean it takes a minimum of 10 days to get the visa stamp?
thanks

Jonjon,
I applied on my own - you absolutely do not need a lawyer to understand the process, just need to read instructions carefully.
Not obstacles, rather just steps. the hardest steps are the IELTS test, the gathering of the minimum funds and getting your employer to sign off on an experience letter. But other than that it was OK, just takes time.

yes 10 days just to stick the Visa TRV on the passport and send it back..plus the time taken by the courier..you should have used VFS to send the passport..they are way faster than sending by courier and this is because they send in a huge amount of passports on daily basis. I wouldnt expect it back before at least 14 days (2 weeks) and mind that my friends were told on the phone it takes 2-3 weeks on average. Good luck u r almost there! Get your heavy coats ready 8)

Thanks!! Will do :)

The funds I got from my husband - he transferred them to my account all in one transaction. So to prove that these funds are ours I of course sent them a detailed bank statement of my husband's account. And yes, the funds were in his account for about six months.
There is a thread somewhere on this forum that answers your question exactly - a person had to show proof of funds, so took it from his father in one transaction just before printing the bank statement. He presented with the bank statement something called a "gift deed" showing that his father gave him this money as a "gift" to be his own money. So just google "gift deed proof of funds" and it might lead you to this thread.
Best of luck :)
