Hello. I notice that the Ottawa Case Processing Centre has a much shorter estimated processing time for self-employed visas than here in the UK - can we apply to Ottawa remotely, or do we need to be within Canada to use that office?

You can't select offices based on processing times - only based on residency/citizenship. In order to have your application processed through the Ottawa office, you would have to be in Canada and would also have to have been admitted to Canada on some sort of permit or visa that allows you to stay in Canada for a minimum of one full year (e.g. work permit, study permit).
Thanks - that's generally as I expected but it was worth checking. I also read that the processing of self-employment and start-up visas might be quicker if a system similar to EE is introduced for them. Are there plans to do that?
