Hi,

I'm reading about the processing fees on the gov.ca website, and I was wondering.. after my husband's application is processed, is he legally able to work in the country? Or will he only be able to work in the country after we have paid and received the Right to Permanent Residence fee. If so, will we have to complete the Application for PR Form following our Application to Sponsor application? And, how much more time will said application take?

I appreciate the help, really.

He cannot work until he lands. He cannot land until he gets his COPR (Confirmation of Permanent Residence). He cannot get that until he pays all the fees. Did you not send the entire thing to CIC-M or CIC-V? You needed both your paperwork AND your husbands.

We haven't sent the paperwork yet. We're sending it to CIC-M, as we're outland. He's allowed to be in Canada on a tourist visa for six months, so he is landed although we are applying outland which is accepted. I plan to send the entire Application to Sponsor Application found here: ww. cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp My question was in regard to whether we had to submit the Application for Permanent Residence application as well. I've seen on the first post by Leon that the PR application is regarded as applying inland.. and the other is for outland applications..

Ah okay now I understand :)

Just know that the SPONSORSHIP forms are to be filled out by YOU and the IMMIGRATION forms are to be filled out by HUSBAND.

When it comes to the fees, if you can pay them all upfront, it's better as waiting tends to cause delays of weeks/months.

Being able to work/receive work permit depends on whether you apply from within our outside Canada. If you apply from within Canada (CPC-V) you will get a work permit once the application is received in principle if you selected same on the form. Otherwise if outland application (CPC -M) you have to wait till the process if finalised before receiving a work permit
