I think the only thing you HAVE to do now, (since he will not be an accompanying dependent) is to get his medical. Make sure you do, or you will not be able to sponsor him at a later point in time.

I think with a bit more information others will be able to help you as well.

How long will he be staying in your home country? Depending on the processing times it might be worth your while to include him now. By the time your application is done (depending also on his age)he may be done grade school? Which he then would be able to travel with you.

Hope this helps!

You are not submitting an application for him at the moment. So I do not think you would pay for him until the point you are actually having his application processed.

I hope others will pipe in with their experience, I am pretty sure I am right though. If you can, try calling the CIC call center and ask what they advise.

Hello @ jingsunfresh @ Madein Canada is mostly correct ;D. You must include your son in your application now or you will never be able to sponsor him at a later date. So he will be included on your application as a "non-accompanying dependant" (you need to explain in your application why he not coming with you - due to his schooling being completed in home country)and you do not have to pay his fee right now. In a few years when you apply for him, you will pay the fees at that point. Hope this clarifies. Blessings.
