Hi Friend,

I Came to Canada on 23 rd March 2015 on Work Permit. My wife having visitor(V-1) visa came to Canada on 01 May 2015. During her port of entry the officer stamped in her passport with date mentioned till 31-Oct-2015 (6 months).

Can we extend her stay in Canada as a visitor or dependant ? If we can extend can I get the process.

I would appreciate a quick response on this. Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Chaitanya

Thanks Canuck for quick reply.

My wife visa(V-1) is valid till 20-Feb-2016. Is it still the same process to extend the stay ?

Thanks in advance !

Chaitanya

It doesn't matter how long her TRV is valid for. Visitor status and TRV are completely different things.

Thanks Canuck. Do CIC ask for passport again for stamping or do they send form to mailing address ?

Passport stamping is for a TRV. She will receive a visitor record in the mail.

Does the visitor record guarantee re-entry. With a TRV, CIC always says re-entry depends upon CBSA agent at border. Does the same apply for a visitor record?

And when the person with a Visitor Record (say valid for 1yr) travels out of Canada and comes back, the person's visitor status is valid for 6 months from the latest re-entry date or it is valid until the future date mentioned in the Visitor Record?

1. No, it doesn't. once a person leaves Canada, their visitor status ends. Unless they traveled only to St. Pierre et Miquelon or the US, they require a valid TRV to re-enter.
