Hello everyone,

My husband will be arriving soon and I am wondering what happens once he arrives at the airport. I know they will give him his docs, etc... but I am wondering if they ask many questions like they would if you were called for an interview? If anyone has any knowledge of arrival procedure please share as we want to be prepared.
Thanks :)

Will he be landing as a permanent resident or just entering as a visitor?

There is nothing to prepare. The landing procedure is nothing to worry about. I landed last year in Vancouver airport. Two short interviews, neither of them causing concern. First a very pleasant lady who gave me lots of pamphlets to read about life in Canada and chatted about vinyards in the Okanagan valley. Next a very pleasant interview with a young male immigration officer who went through the documents (passport, COPR). We had made the mistake (suggested by one of the airline's cabin staff) of sharing one of the customs declaration forms which resulted in our having to be together for the internal flight, which we had booked separately. The immigration officer went out of his way to get a blank form so that we could fill in a second separate declaration. It was in retrospect a very pleasant experience.

He will be landing as a permanent resident under family sponsorship.

Just to clarify...HE will be handing the officer his docs (CoPR), which s/he will stamp/sign and give back to him. ;)

The officer will ask if s/he have been convicted for any crime, if the address on CoPR is correct to send the pr card, under wich program s/he is landing.
Takes no morr than 10 minutes.

Great, thanks!! That sounds simple now I don't have to worry. We weren't sure if they would be questioning him about our relationship like they would in a pre-approval interview as the letter said to anticipate being in customs for a few hours. It sounds like that isn't the case which I am very happy to hear :)

No, you've done all the hard stuff, the landing is easy. They just ask a couple questions to make sure you didn't commit crimes or suddenly gain dependants since your application review.
