Procedure for SPOUSE VISA for Canada

Hi

My Partner is on open work permit in Winnipeg ,canada. His PR application is also in progress. We would be getting married soon.So as a spouse after marriage for which visa i would apply to go to canada and stay there with my husband. Please describe the complete procedure and all the documents required to apply from my end. and also tell me about the processing time from India. Early reply would be really helpful !!

You can apply for Temporary Resident Visa or Open Work Permit for yourself.

There is no such spouse visa for Canada. To apply for your OWP, you will need a copy of your husband's work permit, his job letter, pay slips, bank statements.

I would advice you browse through the forum pages to learn more about the required documents.

I have heard about Spouse Visa in some cases, What does that refer to then ?
and you did not mention anything about marriage certificates and other photo proofs ?
n also please let me know the processing time in getting the visa so that i can go and stay there with my husband

That may be 'spousal open work permit' which is the other term used when a spouse of a foreign worker applies for his or hers open work permit on the basis of their spouse's work permit or student visa.

Yes, you also need to submit the birth, marriage certificates. The timeline varies from country to country which you can check it on this web page.

Can you also please explain the difference between dependant visa , TVR and Open work permit as a spouse ?
till how long each visa will be valid and in which above case i will also be able to work there in canada.

There is no dependent visa as such for the family members of Temporary residents. However, they can apply either for a TRV (Visitor Visa) or Open Work Permit. The validity of a TRV depends on the type of application, for instance, if it is a single entry, it may only be valid for six months compared to multiple entry which might be valid for even ten years.However, an Open work permit validity will be the same as your husband's work permit.

You can not work on a visitor visa. You need a work permit to work in Canada as a temporary resident.

My Partner would also get his PR card in next few months. So will it effect or have any consequences on my visa application as "Spousal Open work" permit ? or any sort of delay in my visa ?

HOW IS THIS POINT RELEVANT FOR ME AS A SPOUSE WHERE I HAVE TO ACCOMPANY MY HUSBAND WHO IS WORKING IN CANADA ? IS THIS ABOVE POINT IS IN REFFERCE TO MY HUSBANDS JOB IN CANADA ?

Please specify if this is again in refference with me or my Husbands fund who is working in canada ?
