I have some trouble with the letter my bank gave to me. For quick reference, here are CIC requirements to the document:

Document: Proof of Means of Financial Support

If you are applying for permanent residence in Canada, you must provide an official letter issued by your financial institution indicating your financial profile.

Your financial profile includes a listing of all your bank (chequing and savings) and investment accounts. The official letter must be printed on the letterhead of the financial institution and must include your name, the contact information of the financial institution (address, telephone number and e-mail address), the account numbers, dates of when each account was opened and the balance of each account over the previous 6 months.

1. My bank gave me their standard letter, which doesn't include their address/phone/email. Does anybody else have the same problem? Do you think such a letter would be acceptable?
2. The letter also doesn't include the date when my account was opened. How important is that information?
3. Starting 4 months ago, my accounts have the required sum of money, however, there wasn't enough funds 5 and 6 months ago. Would that be a problem, seeing that there is enough money now?
4. Do I need to provide the details of each transaction over the past 6 months, or just the money at the end of each month over the last 6 months?

Just go back to your bank and ask them to provide a customised covering letter - FFS it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes for them to furnish - as a paying customer this is the least they should be able to do for you!

Do it on a bank's letterhead. How will they verify the details if need be? That is the standard format for every bank the world over.

Also, attach the transaction details too. How the money and coming and going.

Rest of the questions won't have any effect.

By the way, every bank has this thing standardized so should not be a problem.

Thanks. It's on the letterhead, but the letterhead only includes the bank's name and logo. Yes, it's embarrassing that a large bank may have such a pathetic letter format.

I tried, but they said they can only issue a standard letter and won't change it's format. I'll try a different office of this bank.

Yes, try a different branch and try to be nonchalant about it. Also, you can get the bank statement stamped too from the bank, This way, it will have all the required details.

Does the letter contain atleast the phone number of their head office?

Hi,

I and my Husband work full time in Canada.
I am eligible for FSW & CEC
But not sure what would I give in the Fund.
If I give a less amount will that reduce the chance to get ITA for FSW?
And for 2 persons I think I need to give $12000

Any Advice ??

For FSW, lower limit for 2 persons is 14,853.

Does we need to ask them to convert our account balance into CAD? I am in US so if they want it in CAD I will need to request seperately for that. What are ppl outside of US doing with respect to the currency ....convert it to CAD or let them show in your local currency?

But still do I need to give that amount if we both work here and eligible for CEC?

Currency doesn't matter. You have to have the equivalent amount CIC wants you to have, as mentioned on their proof of funds page.

You don't need to "give". You need to "show" CIC you have that amount.

Sorry. yes I meant do I need fill the field for the amount? Or can I just fill it with $2000 ? And I will be still qualified right?

For CEC, people who are already "authorized" to work in Canada, they do not need to give "proof of funds". This means, for those who have permanent job offer with LMIA.

For FSW, everyone has to "show" proof of funds, as per amount mentioned on CIC's proof of funds page. Yes, you have to mention the amount in the form. Perhaps also provide a letter (or scanned copy of the same) mentioning your the owner of the amount.

Yes you still need fund to show CIC "Unless you are currently authorized to work in Canada and have a valid job offer from an employer in Canada, you must show that you have enough money to support yourself and your family after you get to Canada".
Doesn't matter you are eligible for CEC or not.

Just a question, when i am uploading the ITA application it is stating that i need Proof of Means of Financial Support even though both us work in Canada full time and have a valid LMO offer...what should i upload my back statements how the money comes in and out? really confusied what they want from me.. :o
