Dear All , is there any problem if we travel back to India after getting PR card.

We landed in Canada on July 1st and applied for PR , health card and all Cctb etc but did not receive any of the documents till now . We need to make an urgent planning for going back to India for atleast 40 days . Will there be any problem if stay 40 days outside canada after getting PR. Will our stay outside canada affect health card formalities. .
,

Thanks in advance ,
Jdn.

If you are in Ontario, you are obligated to stay at least 5 months out of the first 6 in Ontario in order to keep your OHIP so if you leave for more than a month in the first 6 months, you would be in breach of that. You should contact OHIP and clear things with them if that is the case. You may have to do the 3 month waiting period again when you return.

If you are in some other province, you have to stay 6 months a year in most of them so being gone for 40 days would not be an issue.

Thanks Leon for our response .

Is it ok if we take this Journey of 40 days after getting OHIP card . Is there any similar cases in forum where we can request for more stay outside canada.

We will call OHIP Also to know more in detail and will post details .

Regards, jdn

If you take the 40 day trip at least 5 months after landing, you would be fine or if you take a 30 day trip earlier but when you take a 40 day trip before you have spent 5 months in Ontario, you are no longer able to fulfill the requirement or staying 5/6 first months in Ontario and in that case, you should definitely talk to OHIP and let them know and ask what they want you to do.
