Hi everyone! So, I posted a couple weeks ago that I received an e-mail from the Centralized Intake Office requesting additional information, specifically an "Option C Printout" for the 2017 tax year. As I mentioned in my other post, I have been officially a non-resident of Canada since June of 2015. So, I contacted the CRA and had them mail me documents declaring no income tax records exist for both 2016 and 2017. I used the "Case Specific Inquiry" link that the Centralized Intake Office provided and informed me in the e-mail I could use to send in the requested information. I sent the new documents from the CRA as well as the letter declaring my non-resident status in Canada. I filled out all of the required information on the form, UCI # and Application # along with our names and all personal information.

Then this morning I received a reply from IRCC regarding my submisson, informing me that the information I provided does not match the information they have on file. They supplied an even longer list of required information, so I once again sent everything back with the other info they requested, only to get the same email a second time! I am very confused. I have no idea what more they are looking for. I gave them absolutely all of the information on our case that I have. I have also been unable to link my account with my GC Key. It seems there is some error in our file somewhere.

Is there a number I can call regarding this? Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

you may continue to send them documents but if information provided is different the information your ealier provided, there may be a problem and delays.....you need to address the mismatch information

If there is a mismatch, it’s on their end, and that’s the issue here. I provided them with the exact same information as before along with the UCI and Application numbers they provided.

I will be contacting them, however, I did not provide conflicting information. I just hope they can find the issue, whatever it is.

Question related to this: Was this something I should have sent along with my package (never saw it asking for it)? I was never told that I had to declare non residency when I left and that you just stop filing cause you make nothing in the country and Canada does not require citizens to claim taxes if you're living outside of Canada? Just worried this will affect my application if I misunderstood something.

Is there a way I can get these forms/letters now so if they do ask I can have them ready to send? If so where do I do this and what forms do I need?

I would call the CRA and inform them of your situation. There are forms and information you need to fill out for them to determine residency as well. In regard to your application, did you clearly indicate that you are NOT living in Canada on your sponsorship application?

Considering I did outland and checked off "Not living in Canada" sections of the forms and checklist, I would safely assume it's clear that I am not living in Canada. I also outlined in my detailed "Intend to Return" portion that I am living in Florida. No where on the checklist did we see anything about providing this Option C printout, unless I was living in Canada still. The other option it had me tick off was asking me to provide proof that I'll be able to support my spouse upon return to which I submitted other things like current pay stubs, the job offer I got from a friend and my moms letter stating she will house us free of charge.

The only thing I'm worried about is that I have one tie, and that is my RBC bank account. I was advised to not close this account when I left. It's a shared account with my mother. Would if be too late to inform them now that I'm not living in Canada? (Although I've called many times and they are aware that I live in Florida, but I never officially called to tell them so).

Sorry for all the questions on your post, just figured since this is the same topic roughly. I'll call the CRA tomorrow and ask what needs to be done.

It’s okay. It sounds like we have a lot in common.

I actually have absolutely no idea why they asked me for an “Option C Printout” either, as I was clear in the application that I haven’t lived in Canada since 2015, and they are asking for Canadian tax information from 2017. Now I can’t even send the information they requested because for some reason the information they gave me (UCI and Application #s) don’t match what they have on file. I’ve tried to send it twice.

Overall though, I wouldn’t worry about the “Option C Printout” unless they ask you for it. I’m beginning to think there’s some mixup with my application because they can’t verify my information. I’m pretty stressed out about that.

I am confused for you as well, that's why this thread topic interested me to look at. I will keep tabs on this as I'm curious what the outcome will be.

I was never told to declare anything when I left and I worry that because I still hold a Canadian Passport (As I'm not a citizen of the US), a bank card that I use from time to time when my mom sends us money for gifts, to help out with basic needs or if she wants me to buy her something to bring up on vacation and that bank account is still active that they will consider me a resident still. Although I"mr eading these are not as important ties as say owning a home, which I'm thankful for. Also worried that on the form (Which I did find online) that it's asking if I plan to return to Canada....

I know I'm jumping a little ahead of myself but just want to be prepared (and we're eager to just get home. We did this dog and pony show going to the US and it took us over a year due to wanting more information too that I wasn't prepared for). I haven't filed a return since 2015 I believe, which was the last year I got a T4 from my employer in Canada at the time. I haven't filed since as I was told at H&R block that I don't need to file as I have no job in Canada or signification money being sent to me from my account. (Aka the money my mom sends me isn't taxable as it's considered gifted. I also hold nothing else in Canada, no property, home etc etc. I only have my bank account, a canadian debit card and my passport-which again is unavoidable and needed to travel between the US and Canada)

Thanks for answering my questions. Please keep us updated. I look forward to finding out the solution! It does sound rather weird....if they wanted the Option C Printout from us US PR's then they should have have asked for it upfront I would imagine? Sounds like to me, as you're saying, something is being mixed up or confused.

You’re very welcome! Please keep me updated on your situation as well. I’m hoping they don’t ask you for an “Option C Print”, and I don’t think it makes any sense that they asked me for one. With my inability to use the UCI and Application #s they provided, I’m thinking that there is indeed a mixup on their end. I’m only hoping that it can actually be resolved over the phone and that we don’t need to start all over again after over 3 months of waiting.

I was hoping for some suggestions on here, because it most certainly is not an issue on my side. I’ve given them everything they have asked for and the only information that I have and now I can’t send in the extra documents they requested when I only have until the end of the month to do so. I’m afraid they may refuse our application now.

We just want to get home too.

Please let me know what they say when you call. Very curious. I will keep you up to date as well. Fingers crossed this is just some confusion cause you're right, it doesn't make sense IMO. I can see if you were inland, as you would need to show in some way you can provide for the PA, but outland its basically your word, savings and anything you may have lined up upon your return home.

Yes, and we’re like you. We sent in our resettlement plan and letters stating we will be staying with my parents until we get settled. My parents wrote and signed a letter confirming this. We also included our tax information (filed jointly) from the U.S.

So, we’re at a loss really as to why they can’t seem to verify our information.

Thank you for your encouragement, I’ll let you know how it goes and I look forward to hearing how everything is going with your case.
