Problems Getting Old Phone Records. Please Advise!

Hi,

My wife and I are beginning the immigration process. She is from Ontario, Canada and I am from the US.

We are having problems getting phone records to help prove our relationship is genuine. We began talking online so we have a lot of old Facebook messages but as far as phone records go we always used an app called Magicjack to call one another because of long distance charges. We also used Facetime but from some reading I found that there is no where that stores your old Facetime history except recent calls on your phone. We also would Skype but we are unable to show Skype records that far back because we have both gotten new computers since then and Skype logs are stored locally on your PC.

I have contacted the people from Magicjack and I'm waiting to hear back from them concerning our phone records.

We have plenty of pictures from trips we've taken together, gifts we've gotten each other, letters from our families, wedding pictures...etc just not the phone records.

If we end up not having any phone records to show is this going to effect me getting PR in Canada?

Get the phone records you can and explain why you don't have older ones. If the company sends you a letter saying the records are unavailable, include that as proof you tried. With all your other evidence, including Facebook, it should be OK, especially because US-Canadian couples are not scrutinized as harshly as some.

if you have plenty of relationship proof otherwise, don't stress about phone or skype records. since you are from the us and are a married couple, you have a lower threshold for proving your relationship, and it's really not necessary to send all of those records. referencing the fact you used those ways to communicate is all that's necessary. we did not submit ANY phone or skype records, only talked about using them in our answers. we were never asked to provide further information and had no issue getting approved.
