Hello everyone. I came from Europe to Canada to visit my girlfriend and while I was here on a visitor status, a working holiday was issued for my country.
I applied and received the acceptance letter. Everything went fine.
I just have to exit the country and make a u turn, in other words, flagpole at the US border. I read and researched and found out that there is nothing illegal in it and that plenty of people do it. So far so good, now the problem. My passport went through the washing machine because I left it in my jeans and my girlfriend didn't check the pockets before throwing my pants in the laundry. So now the password had a nice wash...the thing is that the passport is not ruined or heavily damaged. You can still clearly see my picture, read the informations and all that stuff . But I also know that the passport has an electronic chip inside and if that was damaged I could have a problem.
I went to the embassy and asked to get a new one and they said that I can get a new passport, but first of all, it might take couple of weeks (and by then the six months of my visitor status will be expired, that means I can't stay in Canada and wait for it to arrive..)
second of all, even if they are super fast to get me the new passport, I might get a new passport number ..and my working holiday was issued on my actual passport number. Do you think that if I get a new passport, with a new number, they can refuse my working permit? The two numbers, the one given when I applied and the one I will show them, won't match!
I can carry the old one on me (where it will be written that it's an invalid passport..) , together with the new one, I just think it's sketchy and the officer might refuse me..anyone having any ideas, suggestions or whatsoever?
thank you very much!
