The information that you provide is available to the government of Canada, who sees it, can depend on the information.
There are lots of issues on this topic. Don't expect privacy.

What specific issues are you concerned about?

On a related subject, the Canadian government has legislation that will pass (at some point), the new law will allow various agencies to read/capture your Internet activity.
The online "spying" plan will allow authorities to access the private information of any Canadian at any time, without a warrant.

to be completely honest...unless they have a need for the information, they should stay out....if this person from the past accesses the information about you just for personal research, or not for use by the agency they work for, then you may be able to charge them with breaching the privacy....

If they are a government employee, they do have to sign an agreement, and if it is found they did access your file, it should be terms for immediate dismissal....and a big a$$ lawsuit....

thanks so much for answering,
so does that mean he does have access to it since he works for the government if he has a "legit" reason?? its just a hard thing to fight since he can make up any reason to access it. i just hope it isent a simple thing for him to do and more of a long process type of thing to get the information so he maybe will rethink bothing to even go through with it...

If he does not need access to it, he shouldn't get it....he has to show why he wants access to the information if he can...does this person work for the federal or provincial government??? If its provincial then he really has no need to access the information...

thank you so much, you seem to have a really good understanding on this subject. he does work for provincial government but in his type of work they do a lot of "investigating" on different people so i just wasnt sure if its easier for certian government positions to gain easier access to documents due to their specific position. i know what hes doing isent right and if he does end up doing it and i find out i will be complaining.

If "he" accesses the information, that fact (and his ID) will be logged.

I was on here a while ago and reading over some stuff and I noticed that somebodies appeal hearing was online for everyone to see. Well, I had an appeal hearing. Can anybody just view it? Because that doesn't seem right!! You know?

Yes, because courts are open in Canada. Refugee claims are closed though.

That doesn't make a lot of sense, considering that the woman who informed me when my appeal hearing was happening, said the court was closed to the public, and my Mother could not be there. I really would've loved to have had her there, too. That just really ticks me off!!!!
