hi, so I was looking at some quotes for medical insurance for my mother-in law, and boy is it ever pricy. without deductible it costs about $1000 dollars plus, mean common that is so much, that is pretty hard to afford with a baby on the way. reason we want her to come is to be with my wife for deliver etc. What are my options? I was thinking going TRV but i hear those get dined quite a bit...

If you don't want to purchase insurance, then you'll have to forget about the super visa and go the regular TRV route. However keep in mind that it's always wise to purchase at least some minimum travel insurance when your parents are visiting (even on a TRV) in case something unexpected does happen.

Have you looked at the monthly options? There is a Manulife affiliate that offer to pay month to month for Super Visa parents and grandparents- so you will probably be looking at $100 per month. Anyway this is a lot more flexible than paying all at once

My quote for my mother in law, was $2000 a year for $100K coverage. She's 62, has a pre existing condition. So I think $1000 isn't too shabby at all. It's better than paying $100K+ when you have no insurance and she needs to be treated.
