So, I don't know where I will work, but I'll need two bedroom house, one child, no pets.
Tnx in advance
I am with you there it is never too early to start planning and information gathering.
This is a real generalization with a few comments thrown in for good measure. In Toronto I think that I would be looking to spend around min $2,200+ per month to get into a small 2 bed townhouse. I think that much less then that and you would need to move further away from the city center. You would still need to have money to pay for the gas, electric, telephone and tv. Small house with a bit of a garden you will be looking at min $3,000+ per month and you will still have the bills.
You might want to consider a condominium apartment in the city. The benefits are that they will start around the $1,850+ range. Some buildings will have inclusions such at the heat, electric etc. there will be no shovelling the snow in the winter. Many of the buildings have a range of facilities from swimming pools, gym, sauna, basketball courts, yoga rooms, games rooms, theatres etc. that you can use. If you are working in town the commute to work could possible be minimized as there are so many condo apartments in the city now.
A freehold apartment in an older walk-up low rise will probably start in the $1,300 per month range for a two bed and you will pay the electicity, and phone. Sometimes heat and the hot water is included.
If you email me an email address I can send you some examples of each so that you can take a look at what to expect.
Thanks
