Hello All,

I was sponsored by my ex wife (Caucasion) for a PR in 2005. I got my PR in 2008. We stayed together for 4 years and then decided to part ways and separated in 2009. It was a mutual thing. We just wanted different things in life. Belonging to different cultures and families didn't help either. We officially got divorced in 2011. Last year I married again and is about to sponsor my new wife to Canada. She lives in Auckland, NZ. My question is:
- Is it true that CIC consider 'previously married' cases as complicated cases and takes longer to process them?
- CIC might even interview me regarding my previous marriage?
- If I can't satisfy them, they can take my PR away?
My life is in Canada now. I am employed full time with a reputed company as an engineer and all my social contacts are here. But I love my wife and she is my priority above everything else. I really hope and pray that I wouldn't have to leave the country to go to NewZealand to live there. I would rather that she moves here. Does anyone have any insight on how cases similar to mine a treated?
Regards
Vik

Your application will likely be scrutinized a bit more closely due to the remarraiage after you yourself were sponsored. How long it takes is completely unpredictable at most offices. Some fly through and some drag on for years.

Your wife will almost certainly be interviewed... not you. Although you can accompany her at her visa office if you like, but you probably wont be in the room during the interview. If they dont believe you, they wont grant a pr to your wife. They will not take your pr unless they discover that you lied to get your original pr. If your wifes pr is denied, it wont effect your pr at all.

Man if you were a visa officer, what will automatically goes through your mind when encountering such case? so better be prepare because it won't be easy for your wife to get that PR. I mean if your wife was already living in canada with a legal status (student or anything else) this would have been interpreted as circumstantial (you were in canada, divorced and you met someone from your country who was already there. You guys must bring up any proof showing that you didn't know each other before you get married for the fist time and before you divorced (it's a must) then gather all normal proof of continuous relationship with you new wife.

Good luck

My boyfriend married a Swiss girl in 2008 and sponsored her. She came to Canada in 2009 and left the country 2010 because she was homesick and the marriage wasn't really a good one. He went with her to Switzerland to try to save the marriage but they split up 5 months later in 2011 and got divorced in 2012. She never returned to Canada and lost her PR.

1 year after splitting up with her and 3 months after his divorce he met me (I came to Canada on a work permit before I've known him). 2 weeks later I moved in and one year later we applied for my PR. I hope I don't have to go to an interview because of his past...

I wish you and your wife all the best.

Thank you guys for honest replies. I should have gotten her here on a tourist visa or something and applied from inside Canada. Oh well! If they deny her case then screw Canada! I am leaving this country for good and moving to NZ if thats what it takes.
Good luck to you all!
