Hi, im a canadian citizen living in the UK all my life and im trying to apply for my first adult passport and im struggling with section 3 of the application- previous travel document. I have held previous child passports which have long expired but these were all lost a long time ago. So now im unsure what to select on this question. Yes- to inform i have had a previous document but then i have no information regarding it and the application asks for number/date of issue and also asks in include this in the application. Or no- as i dont have any of my previous passorts available. Could anyone please assist? Would be greatly apreciated thankyou!
Seems to me easier to tell the truth. If you don't know the previous document numbers etc., try typing 'unknown' and include a short letter of explanation. Keep it brief and factual: eg had Canadian passports before but no longer have information on dates of issue/numbers. Your best guess as to timeframe/validity.
It should not make much difference because the main documentation requirement difference is whether or not you have a valid adult passport (in which case you can use that to show citizenship, I think).
If you're going in person to submit (eg at the High Commission or at a consulate), just do up two versions of the form in advance, and ask which one.
Very important to pay attention to the requirements for demonstrating your citizenship. Everything is important, of course, but that's critical.
