Previous Employer reference letters

Hi All,

I am ready with all possible documentation and ready to submit PR application.

but thought of ensuring below points before submit.

I have got reference letter from current employer from canada and india (i am ICT guy) with Job duties for all most 6 years(2.5 canada +3.2 in India).

1. I didn't get reference letter for rest of 3 previous employers and since it requires lot of effort but i have offer, payslips and experience and Tax submission documents,

Please suggest still i need to get reference letter for old companies.
i don't want to remove from work history put it into personal history which may cause further problems.

You need reference letters for all the ones that you claim points for, rest can go to personal history.

can you please answer specific question which i have?

whether we need to bother reference letters for Canadian and foreign experience of 3 years.
and we can upload rest of the employers whatever the letters/doc we have, since i already received ITA and about to submit application. ?

should i spend some more time and get reference letter from previous employers?
or go ahead and submit application ?

i am asking this questions, it might take couple of weeks to coordinate my previous employers and i may get succeed.

if it is not mandatory i don't want waste coordinating with multiple people and loose my application processing time.

Please help.

Yes, maximum points for 3 years of foreign work experience.

Your question above is not entirely clear, but if you have letters and supporting documents covering at least 3 years of foreign work experience, and you are certain that they are convincing/of good quality, then, for other jobs you listed, it would be OK to upload a LOE stating you were unable to get a letter. (

but for the rest of the companies planning to upload offer, payslips, experience letters but it missing clear job duties that is my concern

Can't really answer unless you clarify which is Canadian and which is foreign work experience. If it is all foreign work experience, see my previous response.

i am getting reference letter from all my previous employers, don't want to take chance.

they all happy to provide reference letters, i got it all in 3 days.

but most of job duties are repeating.. is that okk???

I think I have a similar predicament. In my Express Entry I mentioned just one position, which would class as foreign experience. Once I received ITA, I then had to put in 10 years worth of 'personal history'.... I then had to mention the other jobs I had, but didn't want to get references for as I know it will be very difficult.

There are two in total, I did not put in my Express Entry questionnaire but had no choice to list in Personal History for permanent residency. Will they require reference letters for these... it will be near impossible as both companies no longer exist!

Perhaps, I can explain this in an LOE?

As per my knowledge for personal history, it won't ask/generate upload buttons for reference letters.

if you mentioned it in employment history, you may need to get reference letters with duties from your old colleague and attach his/her business card.

Did it work out? I have 7 years work ex from present employer and got all details, but for old ones, which are more than 10 years old I could get only a letter on their letter head stating the tenure of my experience, position and pay, should be okay, right?

I have one year exp in India but now the company is closed and there is no way i can able to get any contact info. Also they paid me in cash so i don't have the pay stub. while i was applying for the student visa i did show them my current working letter from that company, i do have the appointment and resignation letter but nothing more then that.
so my question is is it possible i can get the foreign work exp point ?
