Preparing for Canada

Hi :)

So we received our PPRs and are hopeful that our visas will be released in a few weeks.

Though I don't want to assume until our visas are onhand, I still wish to prepare as early as now to avoid rushing and cramming. And so we could spend more time with relatives and friends we will be parting with instead.

To those who landed, can you please give us some tips?

Here are my concerns:
1. PDOS - who are required to attend, what are the requirements and fees?
2. Vaccines - I've read in some threads that others are being requested to take vaccines before leaving. when is this usually requested (during medicals or after visa release)
3. Are there documents being requested by immigration officers in the airport?

1. I don't know what PDOS is, so I can't be much help with info.
2. no, there are no vaccines required to land as a pr (as far as i know). I would imagine if CIC requests them, this would be country/applicant specific. if you did not receive this request, then there is no need to get anything done. this won't be requested at landing.
3. You need your copr, which will come with your passport and visa for landing. if you plan to bring household goods, electronics and more than just suitcases of clothes, then you will need to declare the items you plan to settle with. There is form for this. It was called B4 and was recently renumbered. a quick google search will help you find it. you will need to present this form at landing so they can declare your items.
