Hi, I have been notified by Novascotia that initial application has been sucessful and she should submit detailed application.

Regarding bank statement, I have to show around $16,500. I will like to know do I need to show this amount of funds in my account for a certain period of time, or just having this much funds at any point of time should be suffice.

I have not got this amount of funds and have to borrow this amount from family and friends. It will be difficult to borrow this much amount for a very long period.

Help and advise will be much appreciated.

1. The funds can't have been borrowed.
2. Offices ask for between 3 & 6 months of bank statements.

Sunnyboy, yours is a very understandable and common situation. As I had mentioned before to few others, not every individual that apply for Canada PR has that balance of $16500 (CAD) in their savings. But yes, that is unfortunately one of the requirements from CIC. Even though it is not advisable to borrow from friends and relatives, most if not all of the applicants borrow for a while and return back once the process is complete. You will need to submit the past 6 months bank statement when you submit your complete set of documents to your local visa office. But, I don't think you need to have maintained (CAD) $16500 on all the 6 months' statement (even though that would be in your benefit). But, you need to show this fund preferably during the last last 2 months. And, once you submit this application, its advisable to maintain this balance until you are issued a PR. Hope this helps.

Thank you.

You can also used your Fixed deposits and PPF account balance. So, you can go to any CA and he will make a balance sheet which including the total of amount by checking the record of your accounts and other reosurces.
