Hi everyone
I am sharing my interview experience with you all which was scheduled on 27th may 15 at NDVO. The scheduled time for the same was 10:15. I reached CANADA HIGH COMISSION at 9:25 and got to know that we have to park our car 2-3 kms away from CANADA HIGH COMISSION at rail parking near museum. So we went and parked our car there and took auto from there and then reached CANADA HIGH COMISSION AT 9:40 AM. Gave our email to the security guard (a middle aged lady) who nicely took it and asked me to wait for few minutes. She took my letter inside and came out and said you may go. Me and my husband entered the visa office where they checked all our bags (hand bag and file) and took our mobiles at security only. Then we went to the reception where we gave our email and they asked us to wait. It was a very silent place where we waited for 45 minutes. At sharp 10:30 am announcement was made where I was called to enter cabin no 7. I entered the cabin and saw the visa officer who was a middle aged south Indian lady. I greeted her but she dint reply me back. She asked me to be seated and asked me my name and asked me about my education. Then asked me to show my degree and diplomas. Then she clearly told me that we have called you for interview because you have mentioned that you are working in your husband’s school and getting salary. She clearly said, we don’t believe you. Why will you work in your own school? I smiling said that mam, you can come along with me to my school and ask any damn person, and they will tell you that i am working since day 1. She said yes we will visit if its required. i said you can ask me anything related to my work i can explain. Then she asked me that your reference letter says that you are working as a “directress” what is that? Are you a teacher or a part of the management. I replied that directress is same as teacher. Its a Montessori term and explained her that there is no difference between the two terms. she asked me so you are trying to say that if there is a Montessori school running anywhere else the teachers would be called as directress. i replied yes. then she asked me questions related to my job. what i do what age children i teach. lunch hours, books used in my school, everything.
I explained her my typical working day how i start my day what all i do n how do we end the day. i also told her that we teach children through themes pre-decided for a month. then she aksed me what is the theme of this particular month. i answered fruits nad vegetables. then she asked me explain the actrivities done in this moth with ur theme. then i explained her the fruits and vegetables competition held. she then asked me don’t u feel bore teaching same topic for one complete month. i said no as these kids are too small so they need time to learn. One has to be really patient with them.
Then she also asked me the mode of salary. I said cash. She said where is form 16. I said it’s not applicable for us as our salary is not taxable. I have given all my itrs where it shows my salary is not taxable. then she asked me any documents that you want to submit. i said no have submitted all with my file. She asked me to show my proof of funds. i gave her the original ones but she just gave them all a look. Didn’t check thoroughly. She asked are these the ones submitted before. i said yes. She then asked have you submitted your pcc. i said yes i have. Then in the end she asked do u want to say something.
I asked yes r u satisfied with your doubts. she smiling said its not that we don’t trust our applicants but we needed some clarifications so we called you. i replied ok. then she asked me that you may go. I said nice meeting u mam. she smiled and said same here. i came outside smilingly. Then me n my husband came out n took our belongings from the security guard and came out. when my husband took his mobile he saw three missed calls from NDVO (TRUECALLER SHOWED THAT) and were surprised. then we called at that number but nobody answered and we came back home and finally on 8th june 2015 i finally got my MR email. so my advice to all for appearing for interview is stay calm, relaxed and confident. That only MATTERS. if you are honest you will surely win.......

I once tried to obtain a Canadian tourist visa to visit my relatives who are already residing in Canada for 35 years but was denied.

I did came prepared with all supporting documents to prove that my intention to go to Canada is just to visit my relatives. I do have speculations though about me not granted with the visa. First of all, during that time it was really hard for me to express myself in English. I was having a hard time answering the questions that he throws at me. Plus I was really nervous during the interview - I felt my hands shaking. In fact, the Consul even tried to calm me down and gave me a few minutes to relax a bit.

The interview didn't take too long. These were the only questions that the Consul asked me:
1. Tell me about yourself.
2. My source of income?
3. The names of my relatives.
4. Relatives addresses
5. Itinerary of my visit to Canada.

I was able to answer questions 1-4. But, I was not prepared to answer the last question. I didn't know that it will be asked and to be honest, I didn't know my itinerary. All I know is that my Aunt was in-charge to pick me up in the airport if I was granted the visa.

The interview ended there and I was informed that I was denied for a visiting visa. I was so frustrated that I wasn't able to hear what he was talking after the interview. It was like a constant ringing sound running over and over.

I didn't accept the fact that I was denied because I felt that I came there prepared but unfortunately, I wasn't prepared at all!

After that experience, I learned that if you are scheduled for an interview, you have to come in prepared and be ready to answer questions that are not usually asked. Create a master list of possible questions that maybe asked. Answer these questions and as much as possible, make sure to memorize the answers to these questions.

Check out the blog post "Preparing for your Immigration Interview Plus 25 Sample Questions". That can be very helpful in preparing a list of interview questions for aspiring Canada visa applicants.
