Hi Guys,
I am Oct 2014 applicant and today received an email from CVO about an interview. They have asked me and my spouse and any dependents above the age of 18 to be present on the given date. I am a little worried as to why me?? when majority of applicants are getting interview waivers.
They have mentioned to bring along the following documents,
Please bring your passport(s) and the following documents:
- Recent employment reference letter
- Recent Proof of funds
- Your Personal History (Schedule A form, Question 8) details from 18th birthday without gaps.
Do not send the documents to this office prior to your interview. Bring them with you. Bring originals, not photocopies. If you do not bring the required documents, you will not be interviewed.
My questions are as follows,
1.) Recent employment reference letter - Just before I had submitted my application (2 months before) I had resigned from the company that I used to work due to closure of company. I had obtained all relevant reference letters and submitted the same along with my resignation letter in my application. I have also mentioned the period after my resignation to the date of application as "Unemployed" in the Schedule A form question 8 (personal history). Till now I am unemployed, but actively performing freelance work in online workplace communities.
-My question is, how will this have an impact on my interview? (being unemployed).
-Does being unemployed after my last employment (around 6 months) raise any negative thoughts/concerns to the VO on the ability of establishing my self economically in Canada?
-What do I submit for "Recent employment reference letter"?. I have already submitted my last employment reference letter along with my application. I claim points on that letter.
- Can I mention that I am working as a freelancer until I find a suitable job?. I can provide a statement of earnings as a freelancer from one of the workplace communities.
2.) Recent proof of funds - I am assuming a letter from my bank certifying the minimum required amount of settlement funds available in my account as of today should suffice?. I have provided such a letter along with the application. Or do I need to take last 6 months statements?
3.) Your Personal History (Schedule A form, Question 8) details from 18th birthday without gaps. - I have already provided Schedule A form and have mentioned personal history of 10 years in my original application (as they had mentioned since the age of 18, or the past 10 years, whichever is most recent).
- For all the employment/studies carried out during this period from my 18th birthday do I need to submit proof? (E.g. at the age of 18 I was at college to begin with. Do I need to submit my school records, etc?. Then my first job which is not relevant to NOC. Do I need to submit all the contracts, etc?)
4.) The last para of the email mentions the following,
You are required to attend an interview pursuant to subsection 15.(1) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA). Failure to attend this scheduled interview may result in the refusal of your application.
- What does this mean?. Does it give any clues at why I am called for the interview?
5.) Based on the documents they've asked to bring for the interview, is anyone able to guess what is the most likely reason for the interview?
6.) Any tips or advice during the interview?
Anyone else from CVO received interview calls?
