Hello Everyone. I am a canadian born citizen living in China, but fully canadian by birth, parents and all.
I have planned to sponsor my wife, a Chinese citizen to come to Canada. We have all the documents and forms completed and ready to send, except for the medical. (Does it need to be completed now or later?)
We both live outside Canada.
We have still not sent our sponsorship and immigration applications in.
have just received news that my wife is pregnant.
I'm not sure how to add a dependent on the application if there is no dependent born yet...my wife is only 3 months pregnant.
What should I do?
1. Send the application now and then update it after the baby is born?
2. Send it with a note from a doctor translated and notarized stating my wife is pregnant?
3. Continue with application and then apply for the little one as a canadian citizen while his mother is still waiting?
Also, how to apply for a child dependent of a canadian born citizen to be grant citizenship outside canada?

What I know is that your wife definitely needs to do her medical exams before applying. She will have to inform the doctor that she is pregnant and she is not allowed to take the x-ray exam. The doctor will mention the pregnancy in the medical file.

What I don't know is what will happen next. You will probably have to inform the VO after the baby is born and add him/her to the application.

Since you were born in Canada, your child will be a Canadian citizen automatically, so you won't need to apply for PR for him or her. You can apply for a certificate of citizenship through a Canadian consulate. The application package is here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/proof-how.asp

For urgent travel, you can apply for a temporary passport for the child.

Do as you say in (1): Apply now, after the medical, and update your application when the baby is born. There's no need to do (2), because the doctor who does the medical will report to CIC that she is pregnant.

as what i have known in some of my fellow applicants in the Manila VO they mentioned that once the applicant is pregnant you need to wait until the child is born..

Main point here is

Are you eligible to sponsor you wife at this point?
Reason I am saying is your country of residence is China at the moment and I think requirement for you to be approved as Sponsor is you must live in Canada or have intentions to go to Canada soon( need proofs in this case like to start Job on particular date or start school on particular date in canada)

Seniors might know better.

Yes he can, Canadian citizens (which he is) can sponsor spouses while living abroad. They have to include a statement with the application outlining the steps they have taken to re-establish in Canada.
