I just want to know if someone has gone through a similar situation like me.
I am currently sponsoring my wife from CHC-New Delhi and she is expecting :D We both are very happy..but little worried at the same time. I am a naturalized Canadian Citizen. My child will be automatically Canadian Citizen as per CIC Website. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/rules/
"You may already be a Canadian Citizen..if
"you were born outside Canada after April 17, 2009, but one parent was born in Canada or naturalized in Canada"
I have gone through CHC-ND website regarding this matter...
http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/india-inde/citizenship-certificate-for-newborn.aspx

I was looking for some sort of timeline. To find out how long does it take for CHC-New Delhi to issue a Citizenship Certificate and afterwards a fresh passport to a newborn?

Does anyone have an answer?? If you have..or know someone who has gone through a similar situation like me..please advise.
Thanks in advance

When the baby is born in India, you still need to add the baby to the additional family information form IMM 5406 under Section B CHILDREN and to form IMM 5481 sponsorship evaluation under 6 B). even though the baby is Canadian Citizen and you are not sponsoring the child.

If you do not inform CIC and not submit the updated forms, your wife could still be denied PR on account of misrepresentation by not declaring all children, canadian or otherwise.

You only require to do this if and only if the baby came before your wife lands even if she gotten her COPR in the mail. She cannot land until she get a new COPR reflecting this new baby. Now imagine showing up at border with new baby in hand to land and the COPR doesn't list the baby. That would spell trouble at the border and your wife could be denied to land as PR due to misrepresentation.

If the baby came after she lands, then no changes to be done as the baby came after your wife lands. Speaking of which, depending on what province you plan to live will greatly affect your ability to apply for provincial health care coverage. Alberta, you can get coverage from day 1. In Ontario, you only qualify for coverage after 3 months. So if you are in ontario and baby came within 3 months after you arrive, you will be on the hook for medical cost of delivering the baby. Keep this in mind.

My wife is 10 weeks pregnant and is expected to be due in September 2014. Once we submit the additional family forms IMM5406 and IMM 5481, do you know how long the expected waiting period would be assuming she gives birth in September and receives COPR the same month?
