I am a working woman and a PR for the past year with a valid health card(OHIP) as well as private health insurance living with my spouse(who is also covered by private health insurance)

I found out that I was 5 weeks pregnant and went to a walk in clinic. They ordered a blood test for pregnancy/HIV/STDs test.

So what is the process of health care in Ontario.I don't have a family doctor. For the past two years I have been only to visit a dentist for tooth aches(covered by private insurance).
All the other times for fever/headache I have just taken over the counter antibiotics.

Please let me know how I should proceed in obtaining pregnancy health care.

Thanks.

You can use a walk-in clinic doctor to get a referral to an OB (obstetrician - pregnancy doctor). This is the doctor you would then use for the duration of your pregnancy and delivery.

Or you could call up any midwife office in Ontario and have a midwife do all your pregnancy care and delivery.

In both cases all your routine blood work, tests, ultrasounds, etc will all be entirely paid by OHIP.
