Hello, I’m not sure If anyone might know the answer to this but I cannot get through to the IRCC line to speak to an agent. I’m currently engaged to my boyfriend of 4 years. At the time of my student visa application I didn’t include my relationship status because we were only 3 years Into the relationship so would not be deemed as common law and I live with him partially as well before moving to Canada for school. We got engaged on one of my trips back home and now I’m 6 months pregnant. I really want him to be here for the birth of our child and to sign the birth papers, he had no intentions of staying here for more than 2/3 months as his home and business is in our home country. I’m due September, and now wondering if we can possibly get the visa process expedited or even to just get a 6 months visa just so he’ll be able to visit and help me out . I have no family nor friends in Canada to help me. I plan on bringing the baby back home to stay with him for even 2 months at a time as soon as he’ll be old enough to leave the country and when I have to work for co-op. Any advise is welcomed and thanks in advance!

Posting under wrong section - should be under visitors. Your boyfriend applies for a visitor visa. There is no expedited processing and coming for a childbirth can raise red flags of not returning. He needs to show funds for visit, travel history, strong ties to home country (e.g job letter with approved leave). A 2-3 month visit is way too long and shows no ties to return.

Make sure you have the proper health coverage for delivery as a student. Look at daycare now because if you are a student you will need daycare…so get on waitlists. And make plans if boyfriend is not in Canada for delivery. Where does he live?

Thsnks so much for responding. He lives in Jamaica, and has a business there as well so he is self employed. I understand now about the red flags, though he really does not want to leave Jamaica and would prefer if I could come home with the baby asap instead of him coming here.
I have insurance here that covers my pregnancy so I’m not worried about the financial aspects of it and have been making plans in the event he cannot be here to help me physically in the first stages. I was just really hoping that he could be approved in time as this is my first time having a baby and would really like the support instead of being by myself after having a baby and still going to school

There's no way to get the visa expedited.

Has he already applied for the TRV or is he still getting his application together? If he hasn't applied yet, this is how you want to structure the application:

- Place focus on his ties to his home country (i.e., employment, property, assets).
- Keep the requested trip to 2-3 weeks.
- Show a bank balance to prove he has the funds required to visit Canada (the more, the better)
- If applicable, show that he has previous travel to countries requiring visas such as the US and Canada.
- You want to be careful about placing too much emphasis on the fact you are engaged and that you are expecting a baby. That may significantly increase the chances of refusal by showing strong ties to Canada and making IRCC concerned he has plans to come here long term. You want to focus on his home country ties. I personally wouldn't even mention the pregnancy or engagement and just apply for the TRV as a tourist.

There's no point calling IRCC. They won't expedite this application. He should expect normal processing times.
