Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
I'm 38 weeks pregnant and really need to do the medical before baby is born as 1) we have 27 days to submit our application 2) can't really wait as baby might be late 3) not sure I will be up for going to get a medical right after the baby is born.
So I've just read on the clinic's website that:
•You can do the other parts of your medical examination now and have the X-ray after the birth of your baby. However, your medical report will not be submitted to CIC until the X-ray examination is completed.

Does this mean that I won't get the form to submit with my application???

The best thing to do is check to with your ob/gyn to see if it's safe to do the xray. From my understanding the danger is in the early stage of pregnancy and you're almost due so it may be ok but see what your doctor says.

If you have to wait then you'd only have almost 4 weeks or so making you 42 weeks. Pregnancies past 41 weeks are very rare, no?

NOOO X-ray anytime during pregnancy is dangerous!! I don't think you will be able to get it done.

There is another thread on this forum on a related topic "Expecting birth of child - Help needed !" Try searching for this topic and contact the person who started this thread and see how he managed to inform CIC and get some extra time.

All the best...don't take too much stress about this..not good for the baby ;)

My first daughter was born 11 days after her due date, so at almost 42 weeks.
This one doesn't look like he's ready to come out yet either!

And 4 weeks is 28 days. We only have 27 days to submit our application :(

Thanks Sita! We thought we didn't need to get an upfront medical, but now that we got to our checklist, it looks like we do and time is running out...Argh...

My friend is pregnant (actually just gave a birth on Sunday :) ), but applied as a dependant together with her husband through EE back in April. She told me that once she gives a birth, they will schedule an X-ray with her immigration doctor and will amend her file through him. Their background check in is progress already but I guess CIC will wait for the Xray and until then the decision is on hold.

Thank you for the info and congratulations to your friend!
Do you know what you uploaded in that section where it asks for the medical?

My wife is pregnant and we did the medicals. What happens is that you can choose not to do the xray until after delivery. So the doctor will provide an extra deferral letter to be uploaded with your proof of medicals.

That's reassuring! Thank you.

I think they uploaded whatever they had at that point and attached letter of explanation, maybe even a proof of her pregnancy from the doctor - in cases like this I'm a strong believer that the more information and explanation you provide, the better.

Hi ,

Can we do general medicals here in Canada and complete X-ray from my home country.

My wife will fly back to India in a month. Whether i can do X-ray test alone in India after delivery? or I should do entire medical process at one location.

Ask the medical office where you're going to do the first part of the medical.

x ray for pregnant women with lead protection is safe. going through same thing and they assured me that they use double protection.

There haven't been enough tests to say that it is safe. Everybody does what they feel comfortable with. My doctors have said there is no point in taking the risk, even though I'm now almost 40 weeks pregnant.
