The reforms reflect a pledge made by Prime Minister Stephen Harper at the World Economic Forum in which he said that economic concerns would be the primary driver of Canada's immigration policy. “We will ensure that, while we respect our humanitarian obligations and family-reunification objectives, we make our economic and labour force needs the central goal of our immigration efforts in the future,” he said.

Among recent immigrants, the unemployment rate stands at 12%. Meanwhile, severe labour shortages persist — particularly in the resource and construction booms of the West. The country's labour situation is becoming “desperate,” the Canadian Chamber of Commerce warned last month, estimating that the country faces labour shortfalls of up to 500,000 workers over the next 10 years.

Three weeks ago, the Alberta Coalition for Action on Labour Shortages, a group of major Alberta employers, met for their first meeting. “If there is going to be any limit to the growth in Alberta, it is the lack of people to fill jobs,” Tim Shipton, president of the Alberta Enter-prise Group, said in an interview at the time.

Not only workers dear they need professionals to manage them as well.... that is why i choose AB as my future destination but its been 02 long years since myself and most of 0711s (Construction Managers) are struggling to get some response, which shows there is a big flaw in their immigration system....

Getting workers from south Asian countries is not so simple they don't have proper system to fetch them, u know how difficult it is for an employer which directly wants to hire people from oversees... First get approval of HRSDC then send the application to VO which will take months to process the application and by the time the employer suffers... so they don't go for direct hire.... another way is to get work permit which has complications attached with it as well....

Hi,
Please help me that how much time my application still take for Visa stamp.
1) I have completed interview in FEB_12, they have given MR for my daughter in FEB_12 and i did it on next day of MR and sent receipt of that( Mine and my wife Medical already completed in NOV_11 and sent PP of mine and wife in DEC_11 to CHC NDVO with RRPF).
2) I got medical results received line in 5th March_12 while DD was encashed in JAN_12.
3) Still they have not requested my daughgter PP also thing they have told already while interview that your application is approved which i already shared in my previous posts.

i do not know when they will request my baby PP and further how they will proceed it as i think it is strangent case.

I was talking about if there was a Government Initiative.
it would help Canada.
their construction company bosses would meet with Immigration minister and asking them for the shortage of construction workforce, Press Release, and then NOTHING. this will not help then anyway.

Your file can be rejected once it is reviewed and with a date.
this seems like a System error.

Can you order CAIPS now? better write an email to them that your Ecas is showing this.

i had the same problem my showed decision made since june 10 2011 and i thought it was a real rejection but i did not get any rejection letter ever, i orderd caips twice and did not say anything about rejection it only said in progress
Now on Febraury 22 2012 my ecas status changed to in process. If cic has not sent any hard copy letter so i thing it is a system error
