This TOPIC will focus on pre-departure tasks one should prepare before LANDING !!!
please share and discuss further.

• OUTLINING FEW TASKS TO PREPARE ON:
  
  
  • Prepare Language either English or French.
  • Gather Proper Documents ( birth certificates, passports, education documents, marriage certificates, divorce certificates, adoption records.
    
  • prepare family member documents who are arriving together or afterwards.
  • Translate required documents.
  • Find Accommodation Both TEMP and PERMANENT.
  • gather WORK docs( experience letters,references,education documents, assessment, education credentials).
  • finding if the profession is Regulated or Not regulated.
  • Finding Training in one's profession.
  • Finding out the exact profession category.
  • Applying Jobs.
  • Finding out Education System either for self or for Family.
  • Purchasing private health Insurance for the first 3 months, till one gets access to the govt insurance.
  • Learn about the province, prior to your arrival
  • The province climate.
  • clothing according to FALL/WINTER/SPRING/AUTUMN
  • knowing LAWS AND RIGHTS.
  • Civic responsibilities.
  "Knowing what to expect before your arrive, will help in integrating and settling well in Canada".

UPDATE ON HEALTH INSURANCE:

A member, who landed recently suggested to take Private Health Insurance from Canada itself after landing as getting a local insurance will make it easier to claim back the money. think about it and share your thoughts

hi mates,

I am planning to do the landing on august, I want to stay there for a week or so in order to complete landing procedures and come back after a year or so, can you pleas advise on the following :

1- How can i get the PR without staying there till it is issued.
2- do I need to go with the whole family or only me the main applicant.
3-after the PR is issued how long can i stay away from canada before i lose the right for becoming a citizen.

1. CIC will issue the PR card once you complete the landing formalities
2. All your family members need to go to Canada to cmplete their landing formalities
3. PR card will be valid for 5 years. You need to stay at least 2 years before applying for a renew.

Please find the answers below:

1. CIC will issue the PR card once you complete the landing formalities
the PR card will be posted to your canadian address, there is also a FAST TRACK PR card and it costs 50 Bucks.
2. All your family members need to go to Canada to cmplete their landing formalities
Its not mandatory, to take them while you land. but all the dependents should land atleast once in the 1st year to complete landing formalities.
3. PR card will be valid for 5 years. You need to stay at least 2 years before applying for a renew.

Is there anyone who has opened SCOTIA BANK account from INDIA, for transferring funds ? could you please share your experience on how long does it takes to get the funds transferred ?
( any info on transferring funds through scotia bank is much appreciated ).
