Hi Everyone!

I sent out my application for renewal beginning of July and it was suppose to be received by July 4 according to Canada post (lost tracking number ). I have yet to receive any email regarding my application and have also tried to look up my application with no luck. I am leaving Canada on July 19th. My brother will leave August 9th and hoping worst case he can bring it for me. I did apply for urgent processing but only provided my itinerary. I’m getting a bit worried that perhaps I made a mistake on my application which is why I have yet to receive any confirmation of application received. My question is...has anyone only received confirmation weeks after it was actually received or are they pretty good at being updated? I’m also considering resending an application and adding a letter to explain the urgency. I read in this thread that urgent processing has taken 8 days. I still have another 4 weeks before my brother leaves. Any advice would be much appreciated :)

Perhaps it’s because I am so stressed I am doubtful if I included copies of my Passport. I have been preparing for some other personal things that have involved photocopying and just cannot remember and unfortunately can’t remember if I did or not.

I am leaving this week however I do have family that will be travelling in August. As a precaution I am going to resend my application with an explanation. I am going to mention that my parents will be able to bring me my pr card. Is this illegal? Will they make it difficult for me to process it urgently by providing them with this information?

Hello everyone!

I would just like to share my brother's timeline for his PR card renewal. His card expired in January this year and he's been a permanent resident for almost 11 years. Application was sent thru Canada Post on July 6, 2019.

His timeline is:
  1. We received your application for a permanent resident card on July 9, 2019.
  2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on July 15, 2019.
  3. We started processing your application on July 15, 2019.
  4. Your Permanent Resident card was sent by mail on July 17, 2019.
Total number of days: 7 days of processing since it was received until it was sent by mail

Note: His application is non-urgent and was sent from Montreal. I will update once he receives his PR card to give everyone an idea how long it takes for the mail to get delivered from Sydney, NS to Montreal, QC.

So it's not been 31 days. I expected mine to be delayed as I only had 830 days in Canada in the last 5 years (100 more than the minimum) and I was on a watch list so everytime I crossed the border I got sent for secondary screening. I presume it's been sent to the local office and they'll either ask for more information or ask me to come in to collect.

I'm really hoping I get it in time for Christmas so I can go and visit family.

This means I should forget about the PR card in near future as I was in Canada just for 760 days in last 5 years :(

Unfortunately there are consequences to coming so close to the RO. You can apply for a PRTD if you leave but make sure you remain compliant with your RO since it is no longer a 5 year block of time it is a rolling total and you must meet the 730 days out of 5 year RO everyday.

I called during processing and they said it had been sent for extra checks. I was out of Canada for almost 3 years. Hoping the card will be here in a few days though. It changed to decision made on Thursday and sent by mail on Friday

Weird, secondary should have taken much longer but it seems like your card has been sent. You got lucky!
