Thank you @Lilly 12.

Does anyone know If i can travel while I send the application to renew PR card.
I wanted to travel to US via flight for 3 days, and thinking if I should apply for replacement card before or after my travel.

1. As long as the PR card you hold is valid, the airline will let you board to return to Canada.

You can apply while and go on vacation. Just make sure your current PR card is valid tho so you can come back in the country with no hassle.

I just checked the mailbox and found the PR card for my family. However mine was not there yet. As per CIC PR status check, all cards were mailed out on same day from same point to same address ... is it something to worry about that mine is not in my mailbox while family cards have been received? Or is it normal as each envelope has its process and can be delayed?

I am a bit tensed and worried now...

please guide.

You can always request for a new one if you'll noy receive your PR card within 8 weeks. Maybe it's gonna come in a few days. Also, holding someone's mail is illegal so if you think he's doing that, you can inform IRCC about that.

Hi,

Do we need to do/pay biometric fee. The instruction guide is confusing.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/guide-5445-applying-permanent-resident-card-card-first-application-replacement-renewal-change-gender-identifier.html

Just after it says "Most PR card applicants do not need to give biometrics." It follows

"As of December 3, 2019, you need to give biometrics when you apply from within Canada. You can go to a designated Service Canada location."

Hello All,

I want to travel to India due to some urgent work ( Mid Jan 2020 and return in the first week on Feb 2020). The expiry on my PR card is 25 Feb 2020.

My timeline:

PR Card Expiry Date 25 Feb 2020.
I and my family landed on 15th Jan 2015 and became PR.
I will complete 747 days living in Canada on Jan 15, 2020.
My wife and two Kids will complete 733 days living in Canada 0n April 30, 2020.

I have a few options in mind and need your suggestions.

1. Apply for PR renewal on Jan 15 2020 and wait for my PR card to arrive and then travel to India

Pros:
1. No questions will be asked while returning to Canada as I will have a new PR card in hand
Cons:
1. If I apply before April 30, 2020, then my family will not be meeting RO of 730 days and that may attract CIC to look into my family case and can cause a problem for their PR renewal

2. I am not sure when I will get the PR card in hand. I may need to wait for a longer period and I can't wait for more than mid-Feb 2020

2. Apply for PR renewal on Jan 15, 2020, and travel immediately without waiting for PR card

Pros:
1. No waiting for the PR card and can travel as planned.
2. If I am stopped due to short expiry of my PR card then I can say that I have already applied for PR renewal

Cons:
1. If I apply before April 30, 2020, then my family will not be meeting RO of 730 days and that may attract CIC to look into my family case and can cause a problem for their PR renewal

3. Do not apply for PR renewal and travel after 15 Jan and return before my PR card expires.

Pros: No chances of my family PR obligation discovered by CIC

Cons: If I am stopped due to short expiry of my PR card then it may create a problem for me although I will be meeting RO obligations

Hi, our Urgent PRC renewal application was received on Nov 29, 2019 by CIC as I could track from Canada Post tracking. Our PR cards are expired. I wnat to ask 2 things:
1. By when can we expect the PR cards if all goes well?
2. My son has to travel to US on Dec19,2019. Can I expect PRC by then. Or can we apply for his travel documents before he travels out of Canada?

They did mention that they can't process applications for less than three weeks. Regular applications go for a month. Maybe urgent applications can take atleast two weeks since they might still have to evaluate if it is a valid reason or not. I wouldn't expect it to arrive by Dec 19. It could but very slim chance.
Also, you can only apply for the travel document outside the country. He'll have to apply at US.

Thank you for the quick reply. Is there any way I could track my application online?
My son is just 15yrs, he won't be apply for the travel document from US. Can I apply for the travel documents now when he is in Canada? Or is there any other solution so he could travel to US for 4-5days. Our PR card expired in Sept,2019 and the renewal application is in process.

You cannot apply for PRTD within Canada, it has to be outside. And there's no really definite timeline for it since every processing centre is different. He can come back in Canada through private vehicle with his expired PR card plus maybe some supportind documents.

You can track your application online through ecas. Register then track it there. Although I think it only works once you get the AOR from IRCC.

My application for permanent resident card was received on November 18th
Email last night December 9th saying the application was received by immigration
Online status changed to decision made this morning December 10th.

I will update when anything else changes.

They put my mailing address as the address on my passport and not the one I supplied. My home address on the online portal is correct but the mailing address is the one on my passport. I am waiting to speak to them at the call center to rectify this at the moment as I can't change the mailing address through the portal. I hope this can be changed fast as I have a trip planned in 2 weeks.

My citizenship application is Inprocess and my PR card is going to expire in two month should I apply for renewal or wait.
What are the pros and cons if I apply for renewal while my application for citizenship is in process.
