Hello Frendz,

I am in Canada on a work permit for 1 year. I work for a leading IT company as a system administrator on virtualization.Have been here for a month now. I contacted a couple of immigration consultants and they say they can so something for my PR in Canada. Now if i see the official website, it says CEC needs minimum of 2 years of work experience to be eligible. I would like to know, if there is any possibility to be eligible for PR with 1 year of work experience, (I have no degree from Canada).

If not under CEC is there any other category i can apply under, i think i can under a federal skilled worker or something like that that with no Canadian experience required. However what are the chances that this will get through and also does CEC have a better weightage when compared to skilledworker.

Any advice or guidance would be really appreciated. Looking forward for some help. Thanks in advance.

For CEC, yes we must have 2 years. Go with a good consultant. Do not beleive all..

hi, if you have 1 year experience, you will be qualified under skilled worker program if your job will fall under skill level O, A, B.

Yes rightly said in the above posts..for CEC under worker program you need atleast 2 years full time work experience. As you don't have any degree from Canada so you will not be able to apply with one year experience. Yes you may be eligible under FSW stream but I don't thing that IT is now in the list. Just go through the list of occupations on CIC website. You have other option of applying for AEO (Arranged employment opinion). For this your current company has to apply for AEO with service Canada. I am not sure abt this. I think if you apply PR with AEO, it means that you have a job offer from a Canadian employer but you are not working with the company at present. If you are working with a company then you need to obtain Labour Market opinion instead of AEO. Please confirm this with someone or go through the CIC website.

The 1 year of full time experience--when do they start counting it? I have a friend who just graduated but had 3 months of full time experience while studying so like a summer job...does that mean she is going to need 9 more months of full time experience before she can apply?

Or do you need 1 year of continuous full time experience?

The 1 year experience that is 1950 hours should be after your graduation. You should work on your post grad work permit for 1 woke year continuous. Must be in NOC o,a,b.

It needs to be one year post-graduation, but it does NOT need to be continuous, only cumulative...

reminder: working full time while studying won't be accepted by the immigration!!! it clearly says that working while studying is only permitted as a part time (maximum of 20 hours per week). so if you gonna present it to the immigration, you will jeopardize your application as working full time while studying is not permitted... unless during school break!!

If u read properly, you would see where I stated it was a summer job!!!!!!!!

oh yeah! summer job! nevertheless, work experience starts with PGWP.
