PR who just landed

Dear,
My family and I just became PR ... we landed at beginning of the year and stayed in Cada for just 2 weeks.

We travel back to our current country, and we hope to permanently immigrate to Canada in 2 years to keep our PR and in the future get the citizenship.

I think I am a No-Resident, because I have no ties with Canada at the moment other than the PR cards. Once I establish in Canada I will fulfill all PR obligations, including anual tax declarations.

Hence, should I present a tax declaration to CRA during the years I will be out of Canada being a PR ?

Tx

Re: PR who just landed should file tax returns?

You don't need to file tax return for this year unless you spend more than 183 days in Canada. You're a non-resident for tax purposes.

My suggestion is to not file tax nor declare anything to CRA at the moment. You can start filing after you actually move to Canada. However keep the records that show you're not residing in Canada in case CRA audits you.
