I am currently working and residing in USA along with my family and we are planning to permanently relocate to Canada. Wanted to know the pros and cons of the options i have, and which option is the safest bet to ensure my spouse can get the permission to get employed in Canada

(1) I can find a job in Canada through my employer itself and they can process my work permit

(2) Both me and my spouse apply for PR outside my employer and once get PR move to Canada

Also if i apply for PR and is pending, am i allowed to get work permit through my employer ? Will it jeopardize any process ?

(1) Extremely difficult to do. Requires your employer obtain an approved LMIA and prove no Canadian could be hired for the job. The vast majority of employers aren't willing to go through the LMIA process. If you do managed to get a skilled job, your spouse can apply for an open work permit but approval is not guaranteed.
(2) This is the more realistic option.

Thank you so much for your reply. For #2, if we both apply for PR and if only one of our applications get approved, how can we proceed in that case ? What will be the best way to ensure the other one gets a work permit ? And can that be processed by that person staying in US until it gets approved ?

Rather than submitting two applications, you can simply add your wife as a dependent to your own application.
Thank you Binabik. Sorry for my ignorance, but could you please tell me f I do that, and my PR is approved, does that mean my wife also get her PR by default ? And if that happens is she allowed to work too there ? Or will she has to go through any other work permit process.

Thanks much, all these info greatly help as we plan this.

Yes if your wife is included in your application and it is accepted, you will both become PR. And once you are PR, both you and your wife can live and work in Canada permanently, no need anymore for work permits. In short, you will immigrate as a family and every members of your family will have the same rights.

Adding my wife as dependent requires what exactly? Is it just adding her details and uploading our marriage certificate? She doesn't have to necessarily go for IELTS or ECA or even do a PCC, right?
