Hi everyone! Good Day,.We just received our Permanent Resident Visa,.I was previously on Work Permit prior to applying to the Provincial Nominee Program and eventually the permanent residency. My question is,how long can my family in the Philippines delay their arrival here in Canada? are they obliged to come
immediately after we received our visa? My kids wanted to finish their schooling before they come and my wife's mother had a stroke so she can't leave that easily..I am afraid that if they don't leave for Canada soon, that may forfeit their visa,..I will appreciate answers from anyone who has experienced this situation.

Thank you so much!

Check the validity of their visa. The should arrive later any time but before the expiry date of visa. The principal applicant can alone land in Canada any time before the visa expiry.

Yes, of course denamydenise, they can delay their arrival till a safety period ahead of the expiry date.
Don't wait till the last day. Should consider any unforeseen reasons for not making the trip at the last moment like sudden sickness, flight cancellation or any thing like that.

Another caution is check the passport validity of your family members. If any one's passport is expiring before the one year period of medical, then the expiry date of the PP is the expiry date of visa. Perhaps you are aware of this. But I am just trying to bring to your attention. Many people are the victim of such incidence due to carelessness. The PA checks his passport but some times forget to check others pps.

Good luck, May God bless friend. :)
