Hi,

I have got my immigrant visa recently. And plan to land in Vancouver.
I would like to know how long I can return to my home country after I have landed.
I read some information about being able to leave Canada for up to 183 days.

I also learned that the PR will be valid if you stay in Canada for two of five years after landing.

I am confused, which rule should I follow?

2/5 years residency to maintain PR status. Don't bother for info on sites other than www.cic.gc.ca as in a lot of cases they are never updated.

Once you land and activate your PR, you can then leave either later that day or on the next day. Your PR card will arrive at the Canadian address you give CIC.

Once you get your PR sent to you (assume you will be getting it sent to you from the person at the address in Canada where it will be received), you can then return to Canada.

In order to keep your PR status you need to ensure you stay in Canada for a two year period (before the expiry of your PR). At this moment if you reside in Canada for 3 years prior to expiry then you will be eligible for Canadian citizenship. These periods are all subject to change in the future
