Thank you for your responses every one.

So I am trying still to get a hold of a Immigration Lawyer without much success, can anyone recommend a lawyer in Calgary AB?

I don't have any names, but from a previous experience with dealing with immigration lawyers, I would suggest this:
  • Look up several lawyers using Google.
  • Contact them with a short description of the situation and ask for an initial consultation
  • Consulting a lawyer is usually never for free. The only stuff that is free is talking to one of their immigration assistants. From my experience, these assistants are worth exactly as much as you pay them: nothing
  • What I'm saying is: Insist that you meet with an actual lawyer for a consultation (and before you go, check how much it will cost you). A good lawyer will allow you to meet him for an appropriate fee (by the hour) without you having to pay a whole "package".
  • Be cautious of these package deals for $1000 and up. In fact your situation is very special so I doubt that those packages will fit you, particularly since you don't even know which path to go (H&C or giving up PR and re-applying or...)
  • I once was on a retainer with one of the very big immigration law firms. These firms are good if you want to do a standard application but I had the impression that my rather special case just got lost in the big industrial-style administration of their firm. A good independent lawyer might be a better idea.

Spyfy, thankyou.
I have been trying to contact a lawyer for a couple of weeks now, the lawyer did initially email me back re booking an appointment and the cost of the consultation. Obviously I want to do everything above board, hence seeking a lawyers advice. I feel if I dont go down the right channel it will come back to bite me in the butt! Everyones advice and opinions are indeed valuable and have given me food for thought! Looks like I need to start googling again!

HI there,
I am afraid she lost her PR status. You could try to contact CIC about your case first. But the best possible solution to apply for immigration to Canada and indicate you as your parents in Canada.

If you have a lot of trouble finding/contacting a lawyer in Calgary, I don't think that it is really necessary that the lawyer is close to you. So if you find a good lawyer in another major city, why not contact them? Unless of course it is important to you to meet them in person. Some people prefer the personal contact.

And as always in Canada: If you want to get things done, you have to call. It always surprises what a significance phone conversations still have over here when it comes to these things. Maybe call the lawyer that emailed you already?

If all things fail: There are free legal clinics every now and then. Of course they won't be able to solve your case there but they might know just the colleague who can help you. This is what I found:
