I cant meet my PR residency obligation and my wife and two kids are Canadians. My PR card already expired and i had difficulty visit my family since then. Can you give me any suggestion? or renounce my status maybe the better choice now? if renounce is the better choice then i have two questions.
1. will my wife and two kids lose their canadian status and benefit (they live in canada)after i renounce my PR status?
2. will I have difficulty or will i get refuse to apply for sponsorship once i can permanently move to canada to live with my family.
3. After renouciation, will i have difficulties to come visit my family as visitor in normal circumstances? because i had heard from friend they had been place to see immigration at airport and wait for about two hours because the computer system told them to stop my friend because he had renounced his status.

Thank you for your help and it is a tough decision for me.

1. No, your wife and children will NOT lose their citizenship.

2. No, your wife will have no difficulty sponsoring you once you are ready to make a permanent move, provided you don't have criminality issues which would bar you from being sponsored.

3. In order to renounce, the best option would be to apply for a PRTD. Once that is denied due to failure to meet RO then do not appeal that decision. After 60 days, your PR status will be officially stripped. You can then apply for a visitor visa to see your wife and children. I am not sure if you can apply for multiple entry because I do not know where you are coming from, but it should not be a problem with getting it issued since you obviously have no plans to overstay that visa, due to the fact you recently lost your PR status. The loss of PR status is not a bad thing in this particular instance.

This friend of yours likely had other issues to be dealt with and that was why he was held up for so long.
