PR skilled worker: two queries on ref letters and Temp Permit

Hello

Firstly I must say this is a great resource for queries and I hope I am not bothering you all by asking these two questions.

My situation is that I had a one year temp permit from May 2009 to May 2010. I extended that in the same month last year along with my LMO, which was only extended until May 2011, expiring on the same date as my temporary work permit.

I have everything ready to be mailed for my PR application except my lanugage results, of which I expect in the mail any day now.

If it means anything, I am a single european with English as a first language.

1st question: I am applying now for my PR with essentially 5 months to go before my current temp visa is up. What happens then? I know I can't leave Canada in process, but will I be able to get a letter from Immigration for such things as SIN renewal, national flights (so they don't just think i've been illegally here for 2 years) and most importantly, will I still be able to work?! Should I call them and find out if I need a new LMO or Temp permit in order to work while being processed?

2nd question: I am using form E37048 for my checklist for visa specific office. It requires past letters from employers for the previous 10 years. I have a letter from my only other 'real' job (ie a job pertaining to my NOC classification) from my last job back in Europe. I had two temp 'crappy' jobs in another Canadian city to the one i've been resident in before now. I sent letters to both of them companies asking for what's required in section 7 of that checklist and neither have responded. I kept Canada Post receipts of both letters being sent in case of a scenario like this. Long story short, are they very strict on reference letters from past employers? Will they be satisfied with this situation or return my application?

Hope the questions are not too much trouble and sorry if they've been answered elsewhere. Thanks

If you want to stay in Canada and work you will need a new LMO and TWP. Incidentally, irrespective of the dates printed on them, the LMO is valid for 6 months only and can only be used once.

I am also a single European and am going through the PR process by the PNP route (IELTS and previous job refs are not requirements in this stream). but I have to maintain my TWP while the application is being processed
